Email the file to me at jamesATjamessteele(D0T)com. At some point I'll have to make a sticky and combine this with the LAME framework, older DP7 themes, etc. A single topic that addresses all the pitfalls with appropriate solutions would be nice.

Right... well I was wondering if you can't just rename the DP7 Reverse plug in "DP7 Reverse" so they can both reside in the Plug-Ins folder. The one for DP7 should show up in DP7. Then just ignore that one and choose "Reverse" when running DP8.
Ah. No, the plugin's name has to be "Reverse.bundle" apparently. However, putting one of the Reverse plugins in a sub-folder (I have one called DP8 Plugins) does allow you to have both version available in either version of DP. Life is good.

I also need to work in DP 7 and 8 right now but in OS10.6.8
So I did lose the sound control driver in 7 after installing DP8.04 ,I reinstalled DP7.24 and got the sound control Driver back in DP7 however now its gone in DP8 . Also I noticed Hui is present in DP 8 but gone in DP 7 control surface setup. I would like to use both one for my iphone one for my
digital mixer.
So what's the trick to have both of these options present in the control surface
setup on the same startup HD on the same partition for both DP 7 and DP 8 or can you really not get this to work ?

I'm pretty sure you can't have both. I maintain a folder that contains the necessary files for whichever version I'm NOT using needs and swap them if I want to switch versions. Yes, a big PIA. Although I've never been too good at using Apple Scripts, I bet it wouldn't be difficult for some to create an Automator script that made the swap.

Going through these same issues..... please make a sticky!

Sounds like there are just a few things that need to be done to go back and forth from 7 to 8, also curious what you need to do to go from Waves 8 to 9 and back.

Thanks for the info.

I restored my DP 7.24 exporting abilities (at least the LAME mp3 option) by discovering that my backup disk, made with Carbon Copy Cloner, had the 'MOTU Audio Export' files in there from a previous backup.

So, I just had to drag them into my internal hard drive where they should go. Luckily I hadn't deleted the older CCC backup!

The LAME option in DP 7.24 seemed to disappear after I upgraded to DP 8.04.

Anyways, now both versions have mp3 export running!

Forwarned is forarmed, thanks to the forum and suggestions I've duplicated the few problem files for eventual substitution when and if necessary. Also have my clone!

I'm just a few hunt and pecks into DP8. Booted into 64 bit and hey, where'd everybody go? Looks like the hunt for 64 bit versions is about to begin.

But my current files play back fine in DP8 32 bit, and back in 7.24 as well. Interesting that my old theme in 7.24 loaded in with the file, although I wouldn't be able to change it to anything except default which at this point is fine.

I may start a new thread, what's got me confused now is wondering if I install and load, for example, the 64 bit version of BFD2 if I have to have a separate version for the 32 apps. Live, Waves, Amplitube 2.... the subsequent quest begins.
