Syncing with Ableton: Volume, Pan, Etc.

Post by Aaron Guidry »

Hello,

I'm running Ableton Live 8.3.4 as a slave via ReWire with DP 7.24.

My main reason for doing this is to be able to use Ableton sounds in my DP Project. I'm currently able to record MIDI into DP using the Ableton sounds by setting up an Aux track in DP, MIDI tracks in both DP and Ableton, then selecting the appropriate sound for the MIDI tracks in the output of DP. DP is showing the Ableton sounds as "bus 1-<TrackNumber>-<TrackName>." I currently have 5 MIDI tracks that I'd like to use the Ableton sounds for.

My issue is that I can not control each MIDI track individually in DP with volume, pan, etc. because they are all set to bus 1. By inserting volume, pan, etc. in the Aux track, ALL 5 of the MIDI the tracks are affected. I can control each individually directly in Ableton, but I'd prefer to do so in DP. That way, I don't have to constantly switch windows when looking at MIDI and controller information.

Is there a way to control each individually in DP? I don't have an option for a bus 2, for example. Is there a MIDI channel option I'm missing? Maybe I'm not doing any of this correctly?

Thanks,

Aaron
