OMF export bug in DP 8.02 and later—can someone confirm?

Post by plurye »

Can someone confirm a bug I've found? It's a bit abstruse but quite a nuisance:

When exporting a DP session as an OMF file in DP 8.02, 8.03 or 8.04, then attempting to import the OMF tracks into a PT 10.x session, some of the audio files can't be found by PT. Upon further examination, you'll see that PT thinks that the first three letters are missing from the file names of these "unfindable" audio files. These files can't be found by PT either manually or automatically.

Why do I think this is a DP bug and not a PT bug? Because if I use DP 8.01 to export the OMF file, this problem does NOT happen; if I use DP 8.02, 8.03, or 8.04 to export an OMF file from the same DP session, it does happen. Something subtle must have changed with DP's OMF export implementation between 8.01 and 8.02.

If someone would be kind enough to try this, please export a session with many audio files from DP 8.02, 03, or 04 as an OMF, then attempt to import the tracks in PT 10.x. Would love to know if anyone else experiences the same thing. BTW if there are stereo files in your source DP session, you'll have to convert them to non-interleaved stereo before exporting (that IS an OMF problem, not a DP problem).

Thanks,
Peter
