The SDII audio files worked and loaded fine. The Project file is the issue on these songs.

7.01 will open your project files just fine. So will DP 8. It is the exact issue I had. The problem is 7.24.

monkey man wrote:Hey Gary, long time no chat, fella. Hope all's well, mate.

I lost my most precious IRs (the "Eastlake?" room) sourced from the Altiverb site back in the days when one could access the free library; they've since required you to be a registered Altiverb user (since v3 or 4 I think). I've dreamed of using them for my drum kits (TD20 brain and previously DM-Pro) as I don't think I've heard a better woody room. I've not bothered to ask if anyone here has 'em, 'cause Audio Ease changed the format from SDII to a proprietary one long ago.

I tried various freeware apps and loading all the older copies I had backed up to CD, but for some strange reason the forks were still missing / damaged. I'm no geek, but I did spend many months trying to retrieve them. All up several hundred megs of data was lost, but the only IRs I really cared about were of that room. I've still got the files in the vain hope I can salvage them one day somehow.

The same thing happened to a MIDI file from the ATARI that had at least 15 new songs laid down as piano tracks. I thought I'd hit on the perfect system for recording ideas (placing each on a single track within one project, making auditioning super-quick). After importing it to the Mac when I switched 14 or so years ago, I found that for some reason both it and its backup copy were unreadable. The dozens of individual songs as MIDI files all loaded perfectly; it was only the one with the previous few years' writing that wouldn't.

I feel your pain. These things just plain suck.
Hey I mis your posts MM. Wondered about you several times. So glad you chimed in man. Are you full intel in 8 yet? Have not made the leap yet as I really love my old Steinberg VI's and trying to find a way to keep them working. Then there is the upgrade costs on the others and wave plugs. Just too damn expensive for me these days.

Hey Gary, yeah I think I am - it's the (January) 2008 2.8 8 core Intel Xeon machine.

I've got software I need that won't work in Lion, so I'm sticking with SL for now - Cheery Pecker, Roland's VDrum Lib, XV Editor and Lib and a few other apps. I've decided to stick with MIDI hardware for a while; if it weren't for that there'd be no problem I s'pose.

I did see that you said early on in the thread that the SDIIs were OK, but for some reason thought you'd since run into some trouble. Sorry man. Someone must've brought it up and like a crow to a diamond, I swooped in.

Hey, sounds like you've been into some interesting projects of late. Ripper! Well done.

Good to know bout your rig MM Yea my machine is late 09. I think Holleran is right about 7.24 but I will eventually buy 8 so it will be short lived. Have to delay a bit as a condition called shingles hit me monday for the firat time and due to no insurance I'm spending my fun money for visits to Doctors. I'll get through this though. Thanks everyone for all the help. Love you guys!

Why is it that no matter how hard I try to avoid it, the monkey is somehow drawn to that area?

Bad monkey!
