Opening a DP5.13 project in DP8?

Post by ski spiggy »

Hi guys.

Have an album almost ready for mixing and I would like to use some WAVES plug ins. But the current plugins will not work in 5.13 so it seems it's time for me to finally upgrade to 8.

No point though if there is no way of transfering the 5.13 project to 8.

Is there any way to do this other than moving separate audio files across.

Thanks,
Spigg

Have you tried just opening the file in Dp8? Otherwise, you might try and OMF or AAF and reference the audio in the export if you're on the same system/network/hard drive, etc.

I have not even bought DP8 yet so no.

Just fishing to see if there is a point for this project.

There's a demo? Just bought it anyway.

I'll see how I go.

Long story short. I had many problems opening certain 5.13 projects in 7.24. I accidently double-clicked on the one giving me the most grief and it opened right up in DP 8 64bit. Some of my 32bit plugs didn't work, of course but all my sound files and edits were present and accounted for.

FWIW, I upgraded from DP 5.13 to 8 and had no problems.
