MIDI file Q... How to half or double tempo?
This may be a very dumb question...
I often work with people who will set there tempos to double what the tempo actually is (I'm guessing cause they don't know how to make their metronome click in 8th notes).
They'll send me MIDI files for piano or other VI's and they'll either be twice the tempo or half tempo. Either way ... I'd there a way to half or double a MIDI track to line up and fit in my properly tempo mapped DP session?

I think this works - try locking the track before halving/doubling the tempo - I did a crude test 'by eye' and it seemed to work!

I was trying to accomplish this in one DP session. Anyway to shortcut to a "scale tempo" of a MIDI track?

Try Scale Time, set to 50% or 200%

Re: MIDI file Q... How to half or double tempo?
If scale time 200% doesn't work out exactly right, you can select all, then use the proportional drag to place one note exactly on the downbeat of that last measure, and the whole thing will adjust proportionately to fit.
[Proportional Drag = CONTROL KEY + drag. Add SHIFT key to constrain motion to one axis]
Percentage should work right, but someone reported a slight error in it in DP 8.0x. I don't know if that's been fixed yet.
Or maybe that error report was in Shift. Oh well, I don't remember. Just know that there are multiple ways of getting to what you want. Scale Time/Proportional Drag should do it quickly. If there is a conductor track there may be other complications. I haven't had to do this since the 1990s, so I don't remember. (I had to do it often back then, because metronome beats on subdivisions didn't always work during some version way back.)

Re: MIDI file Q... How to half or double tempo?
the "Scale Time" seemed to work for the moment ... thanks a ton.
I'll try the other ways just for kicks to see which is simpler and easier.
thanks!

Re: MIDI file Q... How to half or double tempo?
this is on a MIDI track BTW.
I'm trying CONTROL DRAG but DP not allowing me to. I think I'll stick to the Scale Time for now.
