So I'm running 7.24 with OSX 10.8.2 on a MacBook Pro Retina (2.6/16Gb RAM/768Gb SSD). I'm using all VI's (V-Rack with one instance of VEPro 5, in turn hosting VSL Special Edition/3 instances Kontakt with LASS 2.0, various other stuff/1 instance Omnisphere).
Today, for the second time in 2 weeks, after recording a short piece, with a few soundbites sitting on my Tracks window, DP 7.24 started going on strike.
Not locking up; not crashing. The MIDI data is apparently fine. I can record-enable MIDI tracks and play them. But when I hit playback, suddenly whatever track I'm playing on goes silent.
Any MIDI notes I've already recorded are also silent too. When playback is off, those notes are fine - I can select bunches of MIDI notes and sound them with option-Space.
But hit the Space bar to start playback, and nothing. Or, sometimes, a few random notes will sound pathetically. And often those notes will hang and won't even respond to a Cmd-1 All Notes Off.
I'm not sure what triggers this - memory overload? corrupt preferences? Could it be a busing issue?
Oddly, it might possibly be somehow related to my toggling Solo mode on/off, or caused by my toggling Monitoring mode on/off. (I barely understand DP's track-by-track monitoring anyway and wish I could just eliminate it and still hear everything.)
Last time I couldn't fix this, so I just copied the MIDI data I needed and pasted it into a backup from a few hours earlier. Which to me feels more like a surrender than a workaround. Oy.
I haven't bothered to trash the preferences because the problem seems specific to this one file, not the whole program. All advice welcome. Thanks.

Don't know. Good luck. I think Mountain Lion came after DP 7.24 so I hope it's not some weird OS quirk.

ML did come well after 7.24. I've never seen a "go silent" problem like that. MIssing visual data (View Filter misuse) but I would absolutely call MOTU on that one.
