Re: What causes the prefs getting corrupted?
Resuscitating this thread - just installed DP8, and it rescanned all Audio Units. Clariphonic DSP didn't pass (that's a different question I have, but that'll have to wait) so Clariphonic doesn't show up in DP8.
BUT: It still shows up in DP7.
So this leads me to the question - which preferences folder is DP8 referring to? The Audio Unit Info Cache in the usual folder shows up as being modified after the scans, but wouldn't that mean DP7 would also lose Clariphonic?
So, does DP8 use the same preferences folder as DP7, or is there another new one somewhere that I don't know about?
And if it does use the same folder, how come I have Clariphonic still available in DP7?
Thanks in advance for enlightenment!

The rain made it special. The Magic Dot didn't hurt either.

Just wanted to bring this back so it doesn't get lost in, uh, flashbacks....Kubi wrote:Resuscitating this thread - just installed DP8, and it rescanned all Audio Units. Clariphonic DSP didn't pass (that's a different question I have, but that'll have to wait) so Clariphonic doesn't show up in DP8.

Re: What causes the prefs getting corrupted?
If things start getting wonky in DP, chances are it could be a preferences problem with a particular plug-in or VI, and not DP itself. I've had good luck
trashing prefs for individual plugs and VI's when sessions started going south.
Check which VI's and plugs you have instantiated in a project, and consider
trashing their prefs first.

Re: What causes the prefs getting corrupted?
Think I have figured it out (although please chime in if you know differently.)
Looks like the Preferences folder is indeed shared between DP7 and DP8. I guess that means that within the Audio Unit Info Cache file DP can distinguish which prefs are DP7 and which are DP8? Still baffled by the details... Does anyone have any more info on this?

Re: What causes the prefs getting corrupted?
I thought they were stored separately. For example DP8 scans plug ins and stores results separately when running in 32-bit mode and 64-bit mode. I think it keeps two separate Audio Unit cache files for both modes.

Re: What causes the prefs getting corrupted?
Nevermind, found it!!!!
The new folder (for DP8) seems to be called com.motu.DigitalPerformer
There are also prefs files in the main level, one called com.motu.DigitalPerformer.plist and another com.motu.DigitalPerformer.plist.lockfile

That'd be Magilla's Magic Dot then. I was just fine back in '89, then suddenly one day I couldn't toll irate it, so robust health would have to be included in the Time Machine deal.sndmarks wrote:.
