I made the DV file by opening an H.264 Quicktime file and exporting it from Quicktime Pro using DV/DVCPRO - NTSC. If you'd like to send me a short video clip that won't play for you, I'll take a look at that on my own system.dix wrote:Thanks Dave!A new graphics card won't make any difference to Firewire video output. A new graphics card makes a difference to onscreen movie playback, if you have an old graphics card in an older Intel Mac.
Yes, I know the card won't effect Firewire output. I was hoping playing .DVs on an NTSC monitor via Firewire would take the burden off my old video card, but .DVs DVCPro50 or otherwise don't play at all for me (exact same experience as MLC above). Do they for you?
And I've tried many different codecs and movie sizes, but they all drag down my system dramatically. Smaller ones do it less so, but it's still effectively unusable. It's time for me to get a new video card for sure. …and for motu to fix .dv support m'be?
What are you using to move the video through the Firewire port to the NTSC monitor? A Canopus box?

Hmm. But is it the OS or your video card that's making your system smoother than mine (and others)? Both m'be?MIDI Life Crisis wrote:Nope. Smooth as silk here in ML 10.8.3 and DP 8.

Hi MIDI - does Invert Phase plug show up in your DP 8? It's M.I.A in mine (and 7.24 since I installed DPMIDI Life Crisis wrote:Sorry to say, but a few things remain unattended to...
1 - Bounce to disk to a Quicktime still doesn't offer any options, such as save as referenced movie.
2 - Waves Gold Ultrapitch and other pitch related plugs in that package still don't show up. They appear in the plugin (preferences) as passed and reexamining them they pass again, but they are M.I.A. in the Apply Audio and mixer/channel strip.
As time goes by, I'll report on any other issues. Please post any you might find here.

When I've set up the tracks I want in the mixer I really DON'T want the layout to change unless I change the selected tracks in the mixer.
Finally in DP 8.0 and in DP 8.01 this was the case. But in DP 8.02 MOTU have decided to 'restore' the phenomenon whereby if you work in the tracks tab and return to the mixer tab, only the tracks that you had previously 'selected' in the tracks tab are displayed. I'm working on a 15" MacBook Pro and so don't have room on screen to pop out a window for my mixer. This is only an issue with changing between the tracks and the mixer tabs as other in tab windows - sequence for example - the sidebar track selector allows for independent selections.
Am I missing something? I hope I am. Is there a way to lock the tracks displayed in the mixer tab so that changes to the displayed tracks can only be made in that tab? I loved the way it was working in DP 8.01. Why, oh why has it been changed back? I would like to contact MOTU directly about this to suggest that at least this issue could be addressed with a preferences option but can't find a way to contact on their website. If there has been demand for a restoration of the old DP7 behaviour, a preferences option to make track selection changes in the mixer tab 'sticky' would allow those of us who loved the change to DP8 to keep what we had been waiting for.
