Dp7.24, Mountain Lion, UA plugins

Post by larbok »

Is anyone having trouble with Dp7.24 on Mountain Lion?
When I use any UA plugins, no settings are saved once I close a project.
I have talked with UA tech support and they seem to think it is an issue with DP 7.
I never had any conflicts before upgrading to Mountain Lion and UA plugins that require 64bit.
Apple checked the ML OS and gave it a clean bill of health,,,,,,

I have the same problem with DP 7.24 and UAD 2 plugins and OS 10.68. Told them about it. I thought I was the only one, nobody replied when I posted about it here, a while back.

Are you trying to save your UAD settings as UAD presets, or as
DP user settings?

Try saving your plug-in settings as DP user settings. Works fine for me, and
that includes UAD plugs.

You must be doing something wrong.

1. Instantiate a UAD plug on a track.
2. Adjust settings to where you like.
3. In the upper left hand corner right above the plug's GUI, you should see
a drop-down menu marked "Save Settings...".
4. A box will open up, you can see the folder where the setting will be saved.
5. Give it a name.
6. Click OK.

Now next time you put the plug-in on a track, you should be able to
go to "Load User Settings" and see your saved preset and select it.

I have done that....and it does save it e.g. in the Uad presets.
However, when I open the project back up, the plugin is on the channel strip, but the settings are not as what was saved.
I then have to go to that plugin again and open it again, under the name I gave it to get the saved settings back...?
ie...it saves the plugin to the channel but not the settings.....w.o reopening the plugin.

If I have a Mcdsp plugin and setting saved, when I open the project, its there and the settings just as it was when I closed the project.
Not so with UA since upgrading to Mountain Lion.
Never had this issue at all until the OS opgrade

Then you may need to contact UA tech support about this.

I'm still on Snow Leopard so I have had no experience with this.

Can you go back to Snow Leopard?

No to 10.6.8.

I've also been told that DP8 corrects this.
Some of my UA plugins require 64bit.

P.s. I had already spoke to a tech at UA, he said they would let me know if they had a fix>>
Go figure......Lol

Thanks for all your help!! :)

Just reading this because I am interested in the UA Apollo and researching any potential problem areas...

Possibly of no help, but could you have some snapshot automation that is returning your plug-in to a diffferent state than when you left it? Maybe something at the beginning of the file that is overwriting your set up every time you start it up.

Just a guess. Let us know if you find out any solution.

What's interesting now is, the UA plugin saves and does save the settings, but not under whatever name you give it,
E.G if, you have saved it as "Pultec Bass-Rip Van Qinkle," :)
and close out, when you open the project back up, it has saved the settings on the channel insert but the name is called default.
If you drag the same plugin out of the UA folder is has the exact saved setting but is called "Pultec Bass-Rip Van Qinkle."

Demoing DP 8.O2, thought it might solve the very same problem I was having in DP 7.24, but it is still messed up in DP 8.02. I will let UAD know.
