Mastering House recommendation?

Post by philbrown »

I'm about to finish up my band's album and would like to get it professionally mastered. I'm not interested in Ozone or whatever for this project as I'm way too far inside of the thing for too long and need a fresh set of professional ears. I've mastered a couple of projects for others but not this one! It's a 12 song album with standard length tracks. Under $1000 would be good as far as budget. U.S. would make sense vs another country. The band is a trio with cajon instead of drum set, electric guitar and bass and a few keyboard tracks. Some of the tracks have a lot of space in them– we're intentionally pretty low-density as far as sonics/arrangements go.

I had a place in mind– a strong recommendation from a trusted friend in Nashville but I've waited since Tuesday A.M. for the guy to call me back... (it's Saturday). He's got enough business he doesn't need mine it appears. Good communication with the M.E. is as important (or more) as any other business and that matters to me.

TIA,
Phil

Also (if you're sending this out of your area), check out Jeff Lipton at Peerless mastering:
http://peerlessmastering.com/

Jeff has done CD's for several of my clients and they've all been very happy. I think he does a great job and has a wonderful facility. Tell him Phil at Aardvark Sound sent you.
