896 MK3 Hybrid Firewire Issue- Help Mountain Lion

Hello.

Im new to this forum, i say cheers to all of you out there. Sorry for my "bad english" as im writting from Spain. I would like to share my experience with my recently bought 896 MK3 Hybrid Interface.

Im having the same issues on 2 Macs (2008 imac and 2012 Macbook).

Im having a very strange issue with the firewire connections. Basically, i cannot get it to work continuously on Firewire.

1) Sometimes it works, but sometimes it doesnt recognize the card. I always connect it while everything is shut down and disconnect it the same way.

2) When it is finally recognized it sometimes stops playing audio, and crashes. It finally looses comunication with the computer.

3) If i try to connect a hard drive (FW LACIE) through its spare firewire port :
A- It doesnt recognize none of them.
B- Motu gets connected but the hard drive doesnt appear on the computer.
C- Both get connected for a period of time until it crashes. and both connections get lost.
D- Only once it worked continuosly and stable though out an 8 hour session of work with a hard drive connected to one of its ports, but thats it, only once.

I´ve tried several combinations and it is really giving me a headache.

Im an experienced user, i´ve had and used several FW audio interfaces including Motu cards previously and none of them presented this issue.

Im running on the latest Motu drivers, everything is up to date to the latest version...

I can only work with it using USB, but i defnetivelly need to get it working on FW because i have no spare FW ports for other devices.

Are you having these same issues? Can someone share their experience?

Greetings and welcome. I definitely would try another FW cable or two, as my experience is that these jacks and plugs are neither stable nor robust.
