Lost Core Audio Output capability...
I have lost OUTPUT capability on my Focusrite Saffire Pro 40. System preferences sees it as an INPUT device but not OUTPUT.
I was working in DP as normal, went to check some settings in Saffire Mix Control and the Mac went to a white screen CRASH (first ever with this new fella). Since then attempting to load DP gives an error message :-
Unexpected error (MotuAudioSystem Mas CoreAudio error tahw, getBasicStreamInfo 1427 etc.)
I have tried reloading Focusrite software / checked cables / re-booted everything even did a repair permissions....but nothing has worked!
Is there anyway I can "reboot" core audio? Help anyone

Re: Lost Core Audio Output capability...
You might have better luck getting answers over at Focusrite. You might also trash you Audio/MIDI (Apple's a/m that is) setup and start a new, fresh one. Kill the a/m plist first, then delete the current setup and start a new scan for devices if it (The Saffire) doesn't show up. I have the 24 Pro DSP model which I like a lot but with the Track 16 in the studio, I just can't go back and won't be much help in troubleshooting much further.

Re: Lost Core Audio Output capability...
Thanks MLC...I have logged a case with Focusrite.
I borrowed an old MOTU 828Mk2 from a friend (the display has gone) but I connected it up and the Mac picked it up straight away for both input and output. DP likewise!
I then tried the Saffire....same problem no Output!
I think my Saffire has a problem....it's only 6 months old, let's hope there is some sort of hard reset that can be done

Re: Lost Core Audio Output capability...
Focusrite support came up trumps, using a Dicetool and some great instructions was able to re-install the Saffire Firmware using the Mac terminal.....result
