I hope MSI-2 will be a complete reboot. The original MSI was severely flawed. Machine-gun legato, VERY VERY limited ranges on the instruments (one oboe didn't go above high C above the staff, and there were many others). The overall sound had more in common with the hardware samplers for Roland or Kurzweil than with anything that's out today. Very colored audio. There were more problems, but I can't even open it to remind myself what they were.

Wow, never thought I'd see Chicago and Marilyn Manson on the same slide.

They had a great booth, and the film scoring demo from The Hobbit was very cool. Nothing new in the way of DP though. They were filming interviews with several composers (including me) about how they use DP in their work, and are supposed to have the video online soon. The scoring demo I watched used DP on a Mac. Didn't see the DP8 overview demo though.
12-Core Mac Pro, OS: Sierra w/ DP9 - always the latest version. Love of film music.

Hopefully someone filmed, and will post, something better, but for now a couple of little glimpses, FWIW...

Dp drives every aspect of the show. Background music tracks, background vocals, stage lighting commands (all in MIDI), stage movements if any, pyrotechniques, video, in-ear monitors (with pre-recorded tracks for the musicians to hear count-offs, stage directions, click tempos, tone generator tracks for running the show with a back-up system in case first computer freezes, etc...

Basically...most any "big" touring act is using DP. MOTU is finally do a much better job at getting this information out there to folks.
Regards,

Brian Ralston

I'm surprised they did not Mention Madonna either. My friend is her 2nd keyboardist, and he confirmed they're still using DP to run their show.

Maybe they're talking about shows that are currently on tour. Of course, I have no idea if any of the shows on their list happen to be touring. Then again, they've already done articles on Beyonce and Madonna, with Kwiz and Mike McKnight, respectively.

Beyonce performed at the Inauguration last week and is performing at the Grammys next week, even if she's not officially touring at the moment,if I was promoting MOTU being used on tours I'd still want to promote this.
Good point about Mike McKnight, considering all of the tours he's worked on using DP with various Artists over the years, even promoting his history seems to be worth mentioning any time possible.
