Just got DP8 and no plug-ins except stock DP (SOLVED)

Post by zandurian »

... seen as in - they don't exist. AT, Mach5, UAD, Melodyne.

So I'm downloading 8.0.1 to update and am hoping someone someone chimes in here to say "Oh...don't worry - the 8.0.1 update solves all that" (my remote outpost internet is slow right now. ***Prob should replace the 100 foot dollar general brand phone extension cord (2 X 50 foot indoor lines put together with a cheap coupler laying on the ground outside in rainy <yeah!!!> cold south Texas)***

So, while the nearly 1 gig update downloads (verb) who is going to calm my nerves?

PS - or maybe I should just fire my nerves? (wait... that's what they do anyway, right??? oh dang!)

Are you starting up DP in 64 bit mode and not seeing your 32 bit plugs?
Cheers,
BK

…string theory says that all subatomic particles of the universe are nothing but musical notes. A, B-flat, C-sharp, correspond to electrons, neutrinos, quarks, and what have you. Therefore, physics is nothing but the laws of harmony of these strings. Chemistry is nothing but the melodies we can play on these strings. The universe is a symphony of strings and the mind of God… it is cosmic music resonating through 11 dimensional hyperspace.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!!!! I've been tearing my hair out most of the evening after I installed DP8 till I read this and that did the trick... all my plugs are back :)

I should have remembered this too because about 6 months ago I had to do the same thing with reason 6, but oh well... :)

Thanks again, Fred

Zandurian & Freddy,
Many users are having a great experience staying in 64bit and accessing their 32bit plugs and VIs using jBridge m.
It's a great app w/wonderful support so you get to use all of your plugs and still take advantage of 64bit.
You might want to check it out,for about $13 it's a bargain.

I demoed Jbridgem and it seemed to work well but I need to stay AU for now because of all my AU pre-sets in projects I'm in the middle of mixing. So after the demo was done and I went back to AU as primary plug and they all came back up except Machfive v2 AU was no longer found. Then I ran the uninstall JbridgeM commands in terminal and nothing seemed to happen but Machfive is back. I don't know if that uninstall ritual is for the demo or just full version? Should the Jbridgefolder be gone after uninstall (they're still there). If J comes out with an AU bridge I'll try it for sure. If I were starting from scratch I'd stick with it but too too much work to recreate elaborate presets. There's no way to port over the AU presets to VST, right?
