We just got an Apollo interface with realtime UAD plugin processing. The interface works well. Plugins show up in the console interface. Plugins pass AU test and load, but when a plugin is added to an insert and opened the GUI shows up as a blank square.
This computer is a quad core intel running osc 10.7.x (last version), DP 7.24. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Which quad-core Mac? I think that current versions of UAD plugs-ins require the OS to be booted in a 64-bit kernel, and the early 2008 Mac Pro 3,1 is the oldest machine that can do that. Don't know if that the problem, but it's a good first question to ask.

Actually, the question should be what version of the UAD software are
you using - the newest beta (6.4.1)? Your sig says DP 7.24, which is 32-bit
only. UAD software 6.4.1 isn't compatible with DP 7.24.
If you're sticking with DP 7.24 then the UAD software version you need is
Mac 6.3.2.

I might have misunderstood what I was told this afternoon from on a phone call with UA tech support today.David Polich wrote:Actually, the question should be what version of the UAD software are

I think I was told that 6.4.1 is 32 &64bit.
The tech explained to me the only reason they designated 6.4.1 a beta is because the 32bit version was not actually tested for this release.
They tested the 64bit versions and made sure everything works as 64bit but because there were no changes to any of the 32bit plugs they didn't actually test them in enough DAWs like they normally do so they felt designating the release as beta was the right thing to do.
I was suprised to hear this & I find it quite interesting but to make a long story short I think 6.4.1 is actually a 32 & 64bit release or I need to clean my ears.

*Edit*
I found this on the UA site.
"About This Release
UAD v6.4.1 for Mac OS X is a public beta release intended primarily for Apple Logic Pro 9 64-bit users. Although 32-bit and 64-bit versions of VST and Audio Units plug-ins are included, they are not fully tested with other hosts.
Users of 32-bit hosts such as Avid Pro Tools and Ableton Live 8 should not install UAD v6.4.1. Instead, UAD v6.3.2 is recommended. Full support for 32-bit and 64-bit hosts will be included in a future release.
This release supports all UAD-2 devices (UAD-2 PCIe cards, UAD-2 Satellite, and Apollo audio interface).
