Great Price Alert on Lexicon bundles
Lexicon has drastically dropped the prices of their plug-in bundles to where us mere mortals can actually afford them, and dealers are running with it. For instance, right now, http://plugindiscounts.com is offering the Lexicon PCM Native Reverb Bundle for $389 to MVP members, and it's very simple to become a MVP member. Other dealers have similar specials.
I wasn't going to spend any more money on plug-ins this year, but once I confirm this bundle is 64-bit, I just have to get it. The Vintage Plate alone is worth that price.
2012 has been a great year for deals on plug-ins. I don't think 2013 will be the same. My guess is we're going to start seeing plug-in prices going up.

Wish I could do it. Love the Lexicon sound, being a product of the old school metal days.

Re: Great Price Alert on Lexicon bundles
Damn, the 'junior' bundle (MPX) is $65 at plug-in discounts... That's about a third of what I paid. It uses its own algorithm but sounds extremely nice, I use it all the time when I need algorithmic reverb.
Now, the LXP bundle (which I don't have) uses 4 of the 7 algorithms from the big PCM bundle, with reduced edibility, but the very same algorithms. And is a mere $130. That may be the ticket for me. Hmmmm....

Re: Great Price Alert on Lexicon bundles
For our ears, and the years of using lex hardware, the PCM bundle is an absolute no brainer. Tis great reverb that doesnt draw attn to itself, but just makes the source sit right. When we got the PCM native bundle aorund two years ago, it allowed us to get rid of all but one of the lex rack units. (Kept one for phone mixes). That in and of itself might have just made us money.
Cant speak highly enough of it.

Re: Great Price Alert on Lexicon bundles
Hey Dan, where did you confirm that the bundle is 64 bit? Not that I don't trust you, but I have to confirm before I pull the trigger, and I couldn't find it on the Lexicon site.. if it were not 64 bit, I would NOT purchase!Dan Worley wrote:I wasn't going to spend any more money on plug-ins this year, but once I confirm this bundle is 64-bit, I just have to get it.

I didn't confirm it until about an hour ago, and it wasn't easy to find! I finally found a mention of it in the Read Me of the installer, which anyone can download.Killahurts wrote:Hey Dan, where did you confirm that the bundle is 64 bit? I just purchased the PCM bundle. It's just too good to pass up.

Re: Great Price Alert on Lexicon bundles
To be clear, has anyone seen confirmation that the new prices are lowered prices and not Holiday sale prices?
I'd rather not buy now if I know Lexicon has lowered the msrp and purchase at a later date after I recover from all of the Holiday sales.
Thanks

For the MSRP, Lexicon has $1,899.95 crossed out and $1,574.95 as the new price (I thought it would show lower than that). We all know that's just B.S., but how the retail price got down to under $400 and how long it will stay there, I don't know.

Re: Great Price Alert on Lexicon bundles
Thanks Dan
If I go for it now I'd probably go for the LXP package.
I wonder if this bundle has enough variety and edibility to make this a good choice.
Does anyone here that has these Lexicon plugs also have UAD's 224(which I intend to get at a later date) or Vahalla Room which I already have and love.
I keep hearing that UA's 224 is the best of these so I'm curious how the Lexicon soft reverbs compare.
I know it's very subjective but I'm curious about actual user comments.
I'm also curious how resource demanding the Lexicon plugs are in general compared to Vahalla Room?
Thanks

Re: Great Price Alert on Lexicon bundles
OK ,I just found out about a new company Exponential Audio, the developer is Michael Carnes who from what I've read is one of the genius's that developed the Lexicon reverbs.
I suspect the launch of his new company and the prices are what's prompted the price reduction of the Lexicon plug line.
I think I'm going to hold off a bit and see what this new line offers.
Looks quite interesting.

Press release:
"Exponential Audio LLC announces PhoenixVerb and R2, a pair of high-quality reverb plugins for audio professionals. PhoenixVerb is an easy-to-use neutral reverb appropriate for instrumental, vocal and post-production applications. It features an attractive user interface, flexible control, and a novel new preset organization method. It will be available for sale in late 2012, at a list price of $199.
R2 is an active reverberator, with chorus, gate and flexible equalization. It features the same keyword-based preset structure as PhoenixVerb as well as the same processor efficiency. It will also be available in late 2012, at a list price of $299.
Both plugins are cross-platform and multi-format, working both as 32 and 64-bit plugins. On OSX, the AU, VST, RTAS and AAX formats are supported. On Windows, the VST format is supported. Please visit Exponential Audio for more information.
Exponential Audio is a new company with a long tradition. Founded by longtime audio developer Michael Carnes, it is committed to creating powerful tools for demanding professionals

I think the Exponential Audio debut is a major reason for the Lexicon price drop.
In the thread they are basically saying all of the original developers have left Lexicon and moved on.
When I was in the HiFi business up until about 2 years ago I met with The Lexicon HiFi Team & what they're doing and the approach was actually awful from my perspective.
They are now owned by Harmon who IMO are the antithesis of any company I'd feel comfortable knowing controlled a brand I use.
I'm not sure if Lexicon Digital has just lowered prices or if it's EOL or era as the developers are inferring.
I will definitely check out Exponential before I spend $$ on Lexicon as I don't think these are temporary Holiday sales & I don't think the price will go back up.
I think they actually lowered the price because of this new company's impending debut and they realized the prices were too high.
I'm sure the Lexicon plugs are very good & I might be wrong about this but I haven't found it mentioned anywhere that these new prices are temporary Holiday/December sales prices,so I'm not in a rush to grab this.
Here is a quote from KVR by Sean Costello from Vahalla about Mr. Carnes and his new company:
"Well this is a significant development! I'm very interested in what you plan to do with your new company.
valhallasound - Tue Sep 18, 2012 8:22 am
Hi Michael! Welcome to KVR!
To say that Michael is a reverb expert is a bit of an understatement. Not only did he develop the PCM, LXP and MPX reverb plugins while at Lexicon, he was the primary developer of the Lexicon 960L algorithms, and has been programming the Lexicon reverbs dating back to the PCM90. Michael has also been a valued contributor at Gearslutz for many years.
Sean Costello"
This guy is a legend in the reverb community.
Since you asked for a reason to resist buying into the Lexicon line, these are my reasons, for now.
