What I mean is, an option for those that want to keep everything in the Consolidated Window. I like this sometimes as it keeps the jumble of windows under control. This only seems to affect the mixer when you're switching to it within the CW.

Well, I don't use and don't like the consolidated window - but that's another story.
However, when I am editing a particular set of instruments and want to ONLY see those in the mixer, opening the selected tracks in the TO window is very helpful. At least the mixing board remembers what was previously selected. But it's the same way in the sequence editor. All tracks unless you specify what tracks you want FROM THE SEQ EDITOR.
I actually don't see the logic in that. If you have a large template (some are boasting that they have 500-600 tracks, which I find completely inefficient and frankly, completely unnecessary if you are using your VIs correctly - again, another story) but let's give these guys the benefit of the doubt. Should they have the miser open with 600 tracks? Or just the sections and articulations they are working on in the TO window?
I say follow the selections and have the option to defeat that.

Re: Mixing Board won't show tracks highlighted in Tracks Win
In case anyone's interested, the reply today from Campbell at MOTU is--
"Track selection for the Mixing Board has changed with DP8: any tracks that you want to view in the Mixing Board can be selected using the Track Selector window. To bring up the Track Selector, you can hit shift-command-T or go to the "Studio" menu and select "Track Selector". Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!"
I tried it, then responded that in both cases I got an empty Track Selector box. I voiced a question/concern, asking why a formerly simple process has now had time and keystokes added. I said I've been a MOTU user since Performer and each new version has been a wonderful step forward, except this one. This and another problem with disabled tracks automatically re-enabling themselves has sent me back to 7.24.

MAKE THE MISER FIND HIS OWN WAY.MIDI Life Crisis wrote:Should they have the miser open with 600 tracks? Or just the sections and articulations they are working on in the TO window?
Sorry, feeling a bit goofy after a really long week.

On top of the way Shooshie deals with this, it would be good to be able to open multiple views of the mixer, each with a subset of tracks, so a window switch could take you from one submix view to another.

Re: Mixing Board won't show tracks highlighted in Tracks Win
that would be excellent if we could do that.
I wish there were some options for how the mackie control surface acts in this regard as well.
When I switch banks to get to the next set of 8 faders, the previous 8 are automatically hidden, which I may not want all the time. I wish I had the option to just switch the bank without affecting the hiding of tracks.
