Windows OS on separate drive ?

Post by Schweats »

I'm having some offers to tutor 2 Cubase users but on the Windows platform. I was thinking that since I can run Windows on my machine would I be well served if I bought a separate external HD and installed Windows and Cubase on it so as not to cause any confusion if I installed it on my regular internal boot drive ?

Any ideas for the best or most efficient way to do this ? Many TIA

As far as I know it's only possible (without complicated workarounds) to install on an internal drive. But on a Mac Pro that could be any of the four you can install. So unless you already use all for slots/drives you could easily buy a separete drive for Windows.
On a MacBook/Pro the only easy way seems to be to sacrifice parts of the boot drive :(

It may be possible to install on an external drive via eSATA. This needs an eSATA- PCIe card and the the drive, of course.

I would look around on regular support forums to make sure before spending the money. you can't be the only person who wants to do this.
