My name is Jim Bordner, d/b/a Gravity Music. I compose and produce commercial music: TV spots and jingles, radio, sound design, and scoring for documentary film and video games. I also do some VO work, because even though I'm in my 50s I still sound like that 30-something guy-next-door.

...and although I appreciate and like a great interview with band members of a band I like it's also always a bit of a let down. The person may have political or personal beliefs I don't share and an attitude I don't like (know it all, egomaniac, hates all other other music that's close to their chosen genre etc.), and getting to know someone through a medium like an interview, what they're willing to share on a forum etc. isn't really getting to know them, and does ruin a bit of the mystique of their music.

Man, I'm in total agreement. Whenever I read/hear/see an interview with someone whose work I truly admire, or even perhaps worship, it ruins it for me. The sole exception to this is Brian Eno, who is not only as brilliant and witty as his music, but is humble and grounded at the same time.

And in reference to this thread: yo, that's my left deltoid, and that's probably all anyone here wants to see.

Here's a pic of me. It's not really close up enuff but I have trouble posting avatars cuz I don't have a site of my own and the pic needs to be linked to a site or actual URL (I think). Anyway, I'm primarily a playing musician and guitar teacher. I do projects off and on in my home studio Playland. Nice to see all of your faces and personal descriptions. This place is invaluable to me. Thanks Radiogal for the invitation to personalize things here!

I tried to use my full name (Mark Schmieder) at the time I signed up, but I think it rejected it due to a space between first and last name. I don't think you can change your username without signing up as a new user, but I could be wrong.

No photo, simply because I'm not interested in taking the time to learn how/where to host a photo vs. using a stock avatar supplied by the software. Anyway, no one ever takes pictures of me and self-photos don't come out very well. It would be dishonest to use an old photo.

OK, I hosted a photo at Imgur.com as suggested. It's super-low resolution but way more current than any quality photos I have at the moment. It was extracted from a band photo shoot that included the other band members. I used Photoshop to sharpen it a tiny bit. I may swap it for my best photo, even though that one is ten years old, if I get too annoyed with it.

Haha, I already got annoyed with that photo a few minutes later, so swapped it for a professional photographer's picture of me at a gig from ten years ago playing in my 80's tribute band (and decked out accordingly). I look the same now, except for a bit more grey.

Here's one of me. I've been doing a lot of production dialogue recording the past few yeears (in addition to the usual music/post sound) as a boom op. This is after the mixer and I had rigged an elevator for a tricky moving elevator steadicam shot.

I wouldn't hesitate to use my real name here if it wasn't for the fact that the forum's on the web and searchable. I'm not so keen on people searching for me finding my discussions and complaints about processor spikes or whatnot
I did the mistake of using my real name on a mailinglist years ago, that list was later made available as an archive on the net. Taken years to get those posts to at least be on page 21 or so when you google me... Hopefully no one's interested enough to go through that many pages haha.
I have posted in the User Showcase forum and by following those links it's easy to find out about me. And It's me on my picture, though quite some time ago and not much similarity with the current appearance.
