I see from other posts that there seems to be some confusion about M5 v3's ability to either import or read Emu formatted sample library discs (such as EOS) originally intended for Emu hardware samplers. The sales pitch says M5v3 will import these but some posts here seem to indicate that you must use a translator program such as Translator from Chicken Systems. Nothing in the sales lit says anything about importing from Emu's s/w sampler Emulator X format.
Has anyone been able to successfully import libraries from Emu's software sampler Emulator X format (any version) using M5v3?
I have a fair amount of libraries both in various Emu hardware disc formats and in Emulator X format (mostly v2) and I would really like to salvage them as Emulator X seems to be a dead platform. If M5v3 is the best solution to get there then I am definitely interested in getting the product.
I have Kontakt 5 and I have imported Emu hardware sampler discs directly into Kontakt using it's import capability with inconsistent results. Sometimes the filters get a bit weird. The end result is that the patches don't play and sound the same. With a lot of tweaking of each patch this could be corrected but this would take a ridiculous amount of time and isn't this what computers are supposed to be for.
I have Chicken Systems Translator 6 but it is not a trivial process there either.
Plus, part of the issue is that the destination platform has to have a similar level of capabilities compared with the source and frankly while Emulator X may have been left to die by Creative, it was a great and bloody powerful software sampler platform. I'm not sure Kontakt is still quite as versatile in some respects even in it's current version.
So, if there are any old Emulator X hands out there that have gotten those hands "dirty" with M5v3, can you give me the benefit of your experience? How would you compare M5v3 to EX2 or EX3 and can you import EX2 libs into M5v3?
Cheers,
