MOTU MIDI Express XT can't shut down cpu
i have recently upgraded my dedicated cpu to Win. 7; Nuendo 5. i have the 2408mk3 and 24 i/o up and running with the new drivers, BUT, even with the new MIDI Express XT Win 7 drivers, EVERY TIME I TRY TO SHUT OFF THE COMPUTER, it will blue screen and re-boot and ask to reboot in "safe mode." the only way i can turn the cpu off is to crash the power OR turn the Express XT off first before shutting down the cpu! any Ideas????? :s

Let's see exactly what the cause of the blue screen bsod is.Tico001 wrote:i have recently upgraded my dedicated cpu to Win. :s
C:\Windows\Minidump
Copy files in there to any other folder. Then zip or rar the files. Upload the zip or rar to Rapidshare.com or any other online host. Place a link here and we will likely be able to quickly fix this up.
In the meantime and in between time, it would be a great idea to update the motherboard bios to latest, as well as the chipset drivers for it. They both can be found on the motherboard manufacturer's site but if it uses NVIDIA or Intel chipset, you should be able to find even newer on their respective sites instead.

fixed the problem. I had the MIDI Express XT usb cable plugged int to a multi usb hub. I moved it to a usb port connected straight to the mother board. problem solved. Computer shuts down normally now.

Good job dude!
The bsod logs would have probably showed either the MOTU driver failing or more likely, the chipset driver (USB) failing. In either case, we would have known something strange was with your particular setup, because these drivers are known well. No company would leave them as the latest with these inherent problems to them. Masses would be complaining and they're not.
Very glad you were able to straighten it out! That's always a digital treat.
As a side note, these shutdown bsods are amongst the simplest to solve (when analyzed and not having previously figured out the issue) and actually don't take any skills to diagnose other than having the debugger installed and using it. The debugger basically points you right out to the failing driver unlike at other times. Then it's either update the driver or fix some kind of hardware issue involving that driver. Easiest of all.
