Stay with my Mbox1 or get a new interface?

Post by Dawada »

I'm looking to get a new interface, I'm satisfied with the quality of audio generated from the Mbox, its just I cant seem to get the Mbox below the 512 buffer setting. If I set it to 256 It might play for about 2 sec before it quits. I just got some try me tips to see if I can get it to play and record at 256 so I can monitor effects inside of DP while recording. the echo throughs me off instantly. Just want to see what the wonderful world of DP has to say about the matter.

I have an M-Box

The core audio driver from digi isn't supposed to be available below
512.
512 and 1024 are supposed to be your only choices

that makes since then, cause I only get the 256 option when working inside of PT on the mac, or if I'm using the PC.

If you get the 256 option at all, that's pretty surprising considering the
hardware is supposed to give you only 512 and 1024

Check out Focusrite Saffire: Almost the same preamps as the MBox, great plugins included, 2 separate headphones mixes. Because it's Firewire, you can go as low as 128 samples without any problems.

Yes, the saffire is very good sounding, although i had two where the mic pres didn't work, so check before you buy if possible. Edirol FA101 is also very good, and I have lots of friends who swear by the M audio 410, which some perverts also choose to run pro tools on...
