Ultralite won't plug'n play in Windows 7 x64

Post by frankie999 »

Hallo everyone (this is my first post here at Motunation)
I registered because I am having some serious headhache getting my MOTU Ultralite (the old "MK 0" version)running on Windows 7 x64.

While the device works like a charm in a Toshiba Laptop with Windows 7 32 bit (using a builtin IEEE 1394 200 connector), I can't make it work with a Desktop PC running Windows 7 x64 (using a IEEE 1394 400 connector).

The device can be switched on but Window would not recognize it...
I have tried 2 different IEEE 1394 interfaces (NEC and VIA), no-one is working.
The system is a Windows 7 x64 fresh install, I even tried to re-install the whole OS but it didn't give better results.

Did anyone experience this? Thanks.

Hey,

Two things to try off the top of my head.

Update motherboard bios to newest, from manufacturer's site. Set Optimized Defaults in the bios and save.

Test.

If fail, change the slot that the card is in while removing all other non-essential card(s) (as a test).

If good, put card(s) back in until well.

I doubt it, but the problem could also be the cable itself.

Thanks for your kind reply torrentg. Unfortunately updating the bios firmware did not help. I can't really switch the card pci-e port as i just have one. Thanks anyway... Should i try to change the 1394 adapter?

You're welcome.

MOTU does recommend using a card with the Texas Instruments chipset, so with that information in hand, it will have to be your call.

My guess is that it's worth a try, I suppose.
