rexes and loops etc

Post by martian »

I am registered 4.12

pretty much don't use it tho..... ( been off in protools/ reason and live (free wi PT!!!)

how is the REx and loops stuff implemented in DP 4.6

is it as easy to use as ableton?

sort of getting annoyed with zooming etc in live....

how to match tempo in DP?

I sort of posted this b4 - but seems the replies were lost in board migration....

cheerz!

Well First I have Protools LE
Reason Adapted, and Live Light is included,
very cut rate versions of the software.
Second;
Your questions are all over the place..
if your talking about matching tempo in DP 4.12
or 4.6 though all that information is contained in the manual
Information on Tempo maps is on
pages 573-575 and 845 in the 4.6 manual and page 597
entitled Tempos and Audio..it should give you all the information
you need.
I haven't used 4.12 in awhile..and don't have the manual in front of
me so no luck there.
As for the "Loops stuff and rex support"
refer to the manual.
Rex support is a simple as draging and dropping a rex file into
the DP Timeline.
The Loop question is (potentially) far more involved and you'd be better
off reading the manual.

I have already bought reason 2.5 - but yes am wondering whether to buy ableton or not - or upgrade DP....

"Rex support is a simple as draging and dropping a rex file into
the DP Timeline. "

is it converted to audio or are the slices preserved so you can adjust the tempo?

these features are not in 4.12 - so reading about them in the manual I dont have could be tricky.....

I like the fast editing of loops in live- is DP comparable- any fast and fun methods?

does it automatically work out the loops for you? ie - if u import a trimed 8 bars of something - is the tempo auto matched?

Rex:
The slices are preserved so you can adjust the tempo
(Just try it yourself)
Rex import was available as of version 4.
so yes it IS in the manual.
Fast editing of loops vs Live?
Two Fairly different programs but there are a few
different methods for looping in DP.
Ove of them is in a program called Polar (which is within DP)
for creating loops from scratch. Also in your manual.
The point is me explaining it would be basically summarizing
certain aspects of your manual anyway.
I don't have the 4.12 manual at the moment, just the 4.6.
Just open the index and look.
