Change Sequence in Sequence or Project Menu?

Post by JeffTronics »

Hi,

Two issues i'm having which I'm unable to find the answer to, easily. Hope you can help or link me up to an existing posting.

I went from DP 5 to 7. And in what was occurring DP5 carried forward to DP7. It might be how things work by design and I'd like to know if it's something I can do to control or understand it better.

1. When I switch to another Sequence directly in the Sequence window, it doesn't change in the Project Menu>Sequence menu. In fact, my sequence tracks and mixing board settings don't change.

Seems like the only way I've been able to toggle between Sequences, is by making the change first, from the Projects menu.

This occurs for all of my projects (i have about 30)

2. The Control Panel, no longer has the transport slider, I liked this because it allowed me to click and drag. From what I can tell this changed in DP6 and to get up to speed with where things are, I'd like to know where the option to do this is? I read the What's New in 6 & 7, but didn't find it.

Thanks for your input.

Yes, you can edit a sequence other than the active one in the Sequence Editor, Tracks Overview, Mixer etc by selecting a sequence in the mini menus. To change the active sequence, the one that plays, you can also use the Project menu as you said, or the Chunks menu. Changing the active sequence there will change it in the other windows.

By "Transport Slide" you mean "Position Bar"? It's gone. There are a lot of alternatives you can set up with keyboard commands, but none as convenient as the position bar was.

Bayswater,

Thanks for the heads-up upon on the position bar. Yes, that's what I meant and I'll begin educating myself on the alternative.

For the Sequence Editor. I understand what you're saying, and this is my issue. From either the mini menus or even Chunks (while in the Sequence Edit window), i change to another Sequence. The Sequence window does change, but when I look at the Mixing Board layout, it remained on the previous sequence. My expectation is, everything should change together.

We'll see if anyone else chimes-in. It's good I know how to make the change from the Project menu, and this is a minor annoyance - at best.

Thanks.

If you go the the Chunks window, and click the right facing arrow in the Play column, that should change the active sequence in all the other windows. Changing it in the Project menu does the same thing, but changing anywhere else only changes the window you are working in.

You can close all the windows with one strike, and open them all with another (if you have a programmed window set). So if you changed chunks, they will open to the currently play-enabled chunk.
