Audio Express - Motufwa64.sys - BSOD with IE9 and Flash
Dear All,
I experienced a few BSOD with the Audio Express when playing flash videos from IE9 only (no problem with Firefox)
Hardware and Software:
1) I own an Audio Express updated with Firemware 1.03
2) Audio Express is connected to my PC via the USB port
3) OS is Windows 7 64bits with 4GB of RAM
4) USB audio driver 64bits installed
5) Motu Audio Wave for 64 bits updated to version 4.0.4.6150
6) Default Sound PC output is Motu Main Out 1-2
7) Flash player version 10.3.181
Problem Description:
1) I power on the PC and the Audio Express
2) I launch IE9 (vers 9.0.8112)
3) I go to steinberg.net
4) Then "Product" -> Cubase -> "What's new" -> I run the flash video by clicking on the window (arrow)
5) The video starts but after 5 seconds without any sound, I face a BSOD
Same problem for all flash video with sound.
Troubleshooting:
The crash file point out the Motufwa64.sys (see below)
Any ideas ?

Re: Audio Express - Motufwa64.sys - BSOD with IE9 and Flash
Hey there. Copy/paste the files in C:\Windows\Minidump to any other folder.
Then zip or rar the files, upload to Megaupload or similar. Paste a link here and I'll have a look and respond with the solution(s).

Re: Audio Express - Motufwa64.sys - BSOD with IE9 and Flash
Very welcome.
You have some "nasties" on your pc which are known well to crash Windows 7.
The crash was "blamed" on the following but it is simply not true:
"
Use !analyze -v to get detailed debugging information.

Alright, so how to fix this you would want to know, heh?
1) Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\
and delete PxHlpa64.sys.
Reboot.
(This file is commonly installed with ancient CD-DVD software and must be rid of.)

2) You have 2007 Creative software on the system which will crash Windows 7 quicker than anybody can imagine.
To fix this, download Driver Sweeper. Then boot to safe mode and run it. Clear all Creative everything.
Then reboot and install only the latest driver package from Creative's website for your particular hardware.

VERY important to use Driver Sweeper here to rid these, instead of just installing over. Creative is notorious for needing this.
3) Another very real problem that must be rectified is your ancient wireless driver:
rt2500usb rt2500usb.sys Mon Oct 17 07:51:52 2005
Suggest to update that driver to the latest offered by the manufacturer. If there is not a driver from July 2009 or newer, replace the wireless USB adapter with something more modern.
------------------
Follow these 3 things precisely and you'll be happy over there.
Please let us know how it goes and good luck. Any further help needed will definitely not be a problem.
BTW, I'm just a fellow MOTU user. I don't work for them or anything.

Re: Audio Express - Motufwa64.sys - BSOD with IE9 and Flash
Hello Torrentg,
Thanks a lot for your investigations on the dump file.
Summary:
Following your recommendations, the PC stability has increased but still experiencing BSOD. I will continue to investigate during the coming week end.
Here is what I have done:
1) I remove the file PxHlpa64.sys. Unfortunatley my 2 DVD writer/reader were not recognized anymore after the reboot. So I had to put back the PxHlpa64.sys file.
I know... I should consider changing my DVD units
2) I installed Driver Sweeper... cleaned the registery....reinstalled the latest Creative Labs drivers for Win7. Looks good now.
3) I removed my USB Wireless. I'm now using a Devolo solution (transmission over electrical wiring) to connect my PC to my ADSL modem.
So finally, I opened IE9, went to Steinberg.net and was able to launched a flash video without experiencing a crash ! Great ! However.... after 15 minutes of playing different videos,.... my PC crashed (BSOD)....

Awesome!
Please delete the PxHlpa64.sys driver as previously advised.
Then your drives will not work, WHICH IS EXPECTED!
Then follow steps 1-12 here, and all will be great!

Re: Audio Express - Motufwa64.sys - BSOD with IE9 and Flash
Cool, good progress.
Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers and delete -
adfs adfs.SYS Mon Nov 03 11:48:14 2008
Then reboot. That's an old Adobe driver which is basically useless and is a known problem-causer.
You can also stop by Intel.com to update your ethernet driver, which is from before Windows 7 went RTM.

Re: Audio Express - Motufwa64.sys - BSOD with IE9 and Flash
Hello,
After a few hours of troubleshooting:
0) Installation of Flash player 64 bits Beta and test.....still experiencing BSOD.
Then
0) PC RAM check... passed successfully
1) Removed the PCI Creative sound card from PC
2) Removed all connected USB devices
3) Re-installed IE9
....BSOD continues with IE9-32 and IE9-64 bits
4) Un-installed IE9
... !!!! Yeahhh....it works perfect on IE8-32 and IE8-64 bits
5) Re-installed IE9
....BOSD with IE9-32 and IE9-64 bits
6) installed the IE9 patch update
...BOSD with IE9-32 and IE9-64 bits
7) Un-installed IE9
---- !!!!! Yeahh.... it works perfect on IE8-32 and IE8-64 bits
So, the cause of the problem might be related to IE9 and Flash 10.3.181.
If somebody know anything.......
Thanks in advance.

Re: Audio Express - Motufwa64.sys - BSOD with IE9 and Flash
Finally I solved the problem....
IE9 Internet options:
-> Advanced -> Accelerated graphics : Tick the "Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering"
Since......no problem with IE9-32 and IE9-64
(Nvidia GeForce 8800GTS graphic card installed in my PC)
