Can You Edit This Way?

When you're trying to move a soundbite or MIDI event in the editor and you simply want it to nudge to the Bar Line... like in ProTools Grid mode or with Logic it's just a click on the event. In DP you have to either quantize it, or go to the location point and type in the new location, or use the shift function, or the MIDI event menu. The DP grid mode moves the note or file the distance of the specified grid amount. Why can't it SLIP to the bar line as in those other editing programs? Have I simply not found the right page in the manual? Help!

Unfortunately, this is the way it works. I just knew this could not be possible until I called MOTU. It doesn't make sense. As a matter of fact, the whole grid mode is lacking in my opinion. If you are in grid mode, everything should snap to grid. That means all editing moves, ruler selections, etc. What is the point of having a grid mode if you can't do these simple functions? I hope this will be fix soon. It's very frustrating.

I agree ! Its totally bonkers - thats the point of having a grid mode.

You can disable the grid, by simply holding down the command key while you are moving the note. It will not SNAP to the grid line, but you can freely SLIP it into place.

Furthermore, you can hilite the phrase(s) or tracks and use Nudge feature.
Control+Command+N, then choose the amount you want and use the arrow keys on your keyboard.
