conflict : Microbook + USB mouse !?

Post by tzh »

Hi all !

after many many..(x10) tries and tests, i can say i have a direct conflict between my Microbook and my USB mouse, 3 things first :

1° when i start windows 7 with both of them plugged in > win7 recognizes the mouse, but when i open the "CueMix FX" of the Microbook i have the following screen :

Image

and each time i have this, i know Microbook doesnt work

2° when i first plug the mouse and then the Microbook > mouse : Ok ; but the same screen for the MB,
then unplug mouse + MB and reconnect MB > MB works ; then reconnect the Mouse > the mouse doesnt work

3° same as "2°" inverting mouse & MB

yup sorry it's a bit long but i try to be as detailled as possible

so, i'm quite sure it's not a bus powered problem because i tried :

- MicroBook + Mouse > doesn't work
- MicroBook + Novation Keyboard + Tascam interface + Hard Disk (all Bus powered) > and all work !!!

i also tried of course to switch between many ports, to try with another USB mouse > nothing works

i really don't know what to do and i don't want to have to work on my compositions with the touchpad !

please find me something !

my configuration :
- Laptop : ASUS X52J series / i5@2,27 / 4Go RAM
- OS : Windows 7
- Motu MicroBook Firmware 1.07
- Driver v4.0.44925 (i also tried with the one on the CD)

thanks 1nput0utput

but as i said, i dont think 1 mouse asks more power than 1 hard disk + 1 MIDI keyboard + 1 MIDI interface !?

hop i found some precisions about the power :

each USB gives 500mA,

- MicroBook takes 500mA
- hard disk 2mA (!?)
- wireless keyboard+mouse 100mA
- Tascam controler 100mA
- Novation Remote controler 480mA !!!!!
- the mouse 98mA !!!!

so it really doesnt make any sense if i can plug the Novation Remote with the MicroBook and not the mouse !!!?

and anyway, i have now all this plugged in, so all this take this power, and the MicroBook works !?

so i'm definitely convinced it's a driver problem no ?

i'll soon try to plug a bluetooth mouse

Try a different USB mouse. If the problem appears with one mouse but not another, then I'd be inclined to blame the first mouse. Or try connecting the MicroBook to a powered hub as MOTU suggests when power-related problems occur.

hi !

in fact i already tried another mouse, also a wireless keyboard+mouse, even a graphic tablet, none of these did work,

but as i said, i can plug any MIDI controler and keyboard + hard disk, or any other usb device and everything works

so it looks like the problem comes from pointing devices only
i'm really not convinced it's a power problem as i explained previously

the only thing i can try now is a bluetooth mouse, i'll try this soon

then i could say if it's a conflict between the Microbook and any external pointing device or only USB pointing devices

thanks for helping

some news :
(this thread starts to look like my own blog :p)

pissed off to wait a new driver that could change my life, i decided to go and buy a powered-hub as suggested,
came back home, pluuged and powered the hub and ....

it worked !!

but ...

i can't plug my usb mouse on the same hub (!?) or same problem

later, i tried the same configuration that worked without connecting the power to the hub and .... it works !!!!? :?:

so ... it's definitely not a power problem .. at this point i just can't say where it is from ... so i'm not sure if i can tag this thread as [solved] !?
i just can say my Microbook costed me 20€ more :?
