I have an odd use for the Motu...
In short, I have a hearing problem, which means that I need to process audio coming from a variety of sources (i.e. a phone) in order to understand it. Right now, I have a system which uses a 16 channel mixer with 4 aux busses to achieve what I want, but I'm looking to move this to the digital domain for flexibility (i.e. cheaper to use a multiband compressor!).
Basically, I have a few audio sources (headset mic, speakerphone mic, PC audio, aux audio (ipod)) as inputs, and a few audio destinations (headset speakers, speakerphone speaker, phone, video conference) as outputs. Using the 16 channel/4 bus mixer, I can effectively create a matrix mixer which allows me to blend any source into any destination (and vice versa!).
I was wondering if the Motu 828mkIII's routing capabilities would be able to provide me with such capabilities.
I've drawn up a rather shabby diagram to illustrate what I mean:
http://www.yubyub.net/phonerouting.png" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I didn't put the actual audio processing in there - it would be in line with the headset speakers and speakerphone speaker sends (i.e. process the audio that I'd hear).
Does anyone have any ideas as to whether the 828mkIII can support such complex routing?
(Ideally, I'd like to make it more complex, BTW!)
Thanks,

Re: 828mkIII routing question
You may still be able to get a Mackie LM3204, a 16 channel stereo audio analog line mixer, and do what you want. Four stereo channels have sends to external compressors and such. The 828 mk3 has 8 mono analog channel inputs. Not sure if that is enough from what you pictured, and then want more. The Mackie is a 7 space rack mount with lots of control over every channel, but it is not digital. Just a thought.
Mac Pro 1.1, SL 10.6.8, 13 gigs ram, DP7, 2 MTP-AV-USB, MTP-AV serial, Microlite, 828mk2, 828mk3, HDX-SDI, 7 other Macs

Thanks, I'm actually looking to move things away from the analog domain into the digital, to take more advantage of the huge numbers of plug-ins, as well as to shrink the physical size of the whole setup (I actually use this in my office at work, and it's pretty bulky at the moment).

Re: 828mkIII routing question
You can definitely do this with the 828mk3 as long as it has enough inputs for your purposes. Remember that you can use the instrument (1/4" TRS) portion of the front panel combo inputs as well as the eight back panel analog line inputs (totaling ten analog inputs). The on-board mixer features eight stereo mix buses, and all eight mixes are entirely independent.
The leading cause of wrong answers is asking the wrong questions.

Fantastic, thank you!
