Post by jasesound »

hi.
I use this configuration
motu 2408 mk3 with pci424 (driver 32pci 1.9.6.5)
Tascam DM3200 connected to the sound card via tdif
windows xp professional 32bit SP3
cubase 5.

During playback and recording, sometimes and randomly
(2 or 3 times in a session of 8 hours),
appears little gaps or noises in the sound.

before the formatting I used
windows XP professional SP2
cubase SX3
and the original drivers of the sound card (that i lost)
and I Worked well for years.

I have tried to reinstall cubase SX3 in the latest configuration
but the problem persist.

can somebody help me?

How are the 2408mk3 and the DM3200 synchronized? Remember that the TDIF stream doesn't carry a clock signal, so you'll need a word clock connection or other digital audio connection between the two devices in order to provide a timebase to the slave device.

Which device is the master, and which is the slave? Does the same problem if you try the other combination? Are the two devices set to the same sample rate? Does either device indicate that it is not synchronized, such as by blinking the sample rate indicator? Have you tried using a different coaxial cable? Are there T-connectors or terminating loads connected? Have you tried synchronizing the two devices by other means, such as by their S/PDIF I/O instead of word clock?

The problem is that all works well.
I can record and play without problem for hours.
The gaps appears rarely and randomly without crash the sistem.
For this reason I think that the interruptions depends on PC.
In any case I will try to change the master and the cable.
