expand channel count

Post by dazzjazz »

Hi,
I already have a Motu 896mk3 which I'm happy with.
I need to record a live band and could use another 8 (max) inputs.

Any recommendations on which preamp interface? The Motu 8pre looks good or the Focusrite Octopre...?

iMac 27" 2013 24 GB RAM
OSX Catalina. Focusrite Clarett 8Pre. Heritage Audio HA73.

Both the 8pre and the Octopre would get the job done. There's also the Behringer ADA8000, and I think Presonus makes a similar eight-channel mic pre A/D converter as well.
The leading cause of wrong answers is asking the wrong questions.

I'd stick with MOTU, Darren.

The wholesaler (Major Music, as you'd probably know being in Sydney) won't give you the run around should you experience problems.

Mac 2012 12C Cheese Grater, OSX 10.13.6
MOTU DP8.07, MachFive 3.2.1, MIDI Express XT, 24I/O
Novation, Yamaha & Roland Synths, Guitar & Bass, Kemper Rack

Pretend I've placed your favourite quote here

Yes I probably will stick with MOTU.

OT - gosh we really pay through the nose for gear in this country.
I realise wholesalers are in business, but man, sometimes things are twice the price...
