MTP II System Exclusive ?

Post by Jazzy20 »

Hello.

I'm planning to make a Cakewalk Studioware for the MTP II
Does anyone have the SysEx implementation or knows where to find it ?
Thank you.

Hi Jazzy20,
I'm answering your post 3 years after ! And what I have to say is looks like SYSEX Implementation for MTP AV or II is a super secrect, looks like they are afraid that you use all hardware capabilities. I'd ask then but no answer, they just ignore me.

But I'm starting to discover some of then and I'have two very usefull : the foot pedals and panel bottons setting. As you've notice Clockworks does not save these setting. If you or anyone want it just say, ok.

Hi ADRStudio

What a nice surprise.
Sure it would be great to have this information.
Thank you.

P.S. The hardware is amazing. Still working after all these years.

Hi Jazzy20,

Yah, It is a nice hardware but not a good software or documentation. I using MTP Paralel and works perfectly. The only problem is with Clockworks that not only does part of the job but also mess with the pedals and knobs and others setting, and sometimes get a little crazy.

Before anything, the use of these command it up to you, It can change the configuration you have. Before anything, make backup of your setup !!! OK ?

You know you can call the file saved with Clockwoks as a sysex bulk dump ? Just delete the begining of the fille until the one byte before the first F0.

Well I started to find out the sysex commands and I'm writing below the ones I'm shure it works. Here it goes :

Base Setup Name:
F0 00 00 33 07 20 00 00 MM 00 XX XX XX XX XX XX XX XX XX XX XX XX F7
Where:
MM Base Setup Number
XX ASCII Character

**************
Select Path:
F0 00 00 33 07 25 00 00 XX F7
Where:
XX Path Number

**************
Select Base Setup:
F0 00 00 33 07 22 00 00 XX F7
Where:
XX Setup Number

**************
Set Pedal :
F0 00 00 33 07 15 mM 00 NN PP tT 00 UU 0S 0Q RR F7
Where:
m Pedal A or B (0 or 1)
M Pedal Type
NN Max Range or Threshold for ClickToMidi
PP Min Range or Decay for ClickToMidi
S Channel
Q Data Type
RR Value

t IN for ClicktoMidi
T Channel for ClickToMidi
UU n for ClickToMidi

So far Polarity only on Panel

**************
Set Knobs:
F0 00 00 33 07 17 0M 00 NN PP TT UU 00 0S 0Q RR F7
Where:
M Knob (0,1,2,3 as A,B,C or D)
NN Max Range
PP Min Range
UU Start
TT Step
S Channel
Q Data Type
RR Value

Not lucky yet about set Sysex on knobs.
**************

For me, setting the pedals and knobs is the more important thing because Clockworks just can't save it and make a mess somethimes.

I'm trying to figure out about the Modifiers and Setups that Motu just alow MAC users to use. Windows users are prohibed to use some hardware features.

About the Cannons is not a big deal, you can do it using different methods.

Good luck, remember to save your setups ok !!!!

PS :-) My request for the SYSEX/MIDI implementation chart on Motu's Tech Links still have the status as unread, wich means they don't care.

Jazzy20, Good to know that the pedals works and thanks for the tip about pedals polarity.

I post a new topic : Timepiece MTP AV SYSEX List and Modifiers where there is link to a PDF file with a more complete set of SYSEX Commands for MIDI Timepiece.
