I have a pair of self-powered M-Audio BX8a monitors. They are massive and take up too much space on my desk itself. I want to move them to the wall, but their power switch is on the back of each monitor. Therefore I have a conundrum, since the power switch is on the back of each speaker and if I put them up on the wall, it will require Mister Fantastic to reach up there and shut them off.
MAIN QUESTION: is it safe to power off these self-powered speakers by simply turning off the power strip itself?
SUB QUESTIONS:
If yes to the main question, then (a) would it matter what kind of power strip I use if I am turning them off from the power strip itself? If yes to (a), then (b) what kind of power strip makes it safe to turn off your monitors from the power strip?
If no to the main question, then (c) what kind of monitors are there which are (1) powered from an external power source rather than from the back of the speakers, (2) at least of the quality of the BX8a, (3) under $500?
Thanks

Re: OK to kill studio monitors at power strip?
No worries powering your monitors off and on from a power strip of any kind. Just turn the monitors on last and off first to avoid pops when powering other equipment in the chain on and off. A sequenced AC power supply (Furman, Monster, etc) might be a nice convenience.
