I just bought a Traveler mk3. After the "Loading CueMix FX ..." screen the MIDI in light flashes and simultaneously a relatively loud screech comes from within the rear left of the enclosure. It happens always with or without anything connected to it other than either the wall adapter or firewire bus power (either power source yields the exact same behavior).
Has anyone heard this crazy noise from the Traveler mk3?
Unless someone says "they all do that - it's harmless" I'm going to return it and get a new one from a completely different vendor just to make sure it's from a different lot.

Re: Screech from within Traveler mk3 encloser when powered o
I purchased a new MOTU Traveler mk3 and it also emits the strange noise.
The new unit was purchased direct from the factory from a different vendor, I saw the packing slip with MOTU's address, the serial number was significantly higher and it had the latest firmware version whereas the previous unit did not.
So it seems the strange noise emitted from the enclosure when powered on is not so strange. Oh well. I got a 10% discount so I put that savings into the 3 year protection plan just in case.
Otherwise it works great so far (as did the one that was returned).
If this scratching noise really is a harmless characteristic of all Traveler mk3s, MOTU should really add something about it to the docs or include an errata page in the box.
Anyway, I'm just posting this for posterity.
