turbo mouse pro acting up.

Post by twistedtom »

The pointer is jumping around, it is worse when I put it on some thing to select. When I scroll the it suddenly jumps the scroll bar upwards. I am worried that my track ball may be going bad.

Could be a hardware failure if it's old. Have you done any sort of cleaning of the unit itself?

Yes I cleaned the rollers but I have not opened it to clean inside yet. It is the up and down roller that is acting up. I hope it is an easy fix as I love this unit.
If not I may be getting a Magic Trackpad sooner than I thought. :(

Don't just clean the rollers, clean the posts that the rollers sit on (the ones that go thru the rollers). OFten these can get 'troll hairs' on them and clog up the works. You might have to scrape them off with an Exacto or maybe a toothpick.

Thanks guys I will give it a good cleaning today. After moving the pointer it some times just moves up and down on it's own but if it is sitting and I have not moved it the pointer stays still. :smash:

Be sure the feet pads are clean and the mouse pad or surface you are using is clean and flat. That can also cause problems.

That was it, I took the bottom off of it and cleaned inside. The roller was wrapped in cat fuzz.
How can one small animal make so much fuzz?
Thanks guys. :D

A couple of weeks ago the battery on my MX Revolution was going south. I could get a new one for $7, no big deal. Then I saw a tiny little thing on the Logitech user forum (like this one) that said to disconnect the battery from the borad for a few minutes to reset the battery level indicator. Now it works like new.

Funny how attached we become to our input devices...
