Motu Traveler V1-Opinion Needed

Post by Tragicdog »

Hey guys, I'm thinking of buying a Version 1 Traveler, found one for 300 bucks in perfect condition. What I'm wondering is, is it worth it? I've been reading up on the V1 Traveler, and there seems to be some sporadic issues with noise and such.

I'm a fledgling Production Sound Mixer looking to finally get his own gear, I also do Dialogue Editing, and Sound Design. Would the Traveler work in these circumstances? I don't need the reverb and other effects that the MK3 brings.

Currently I'm using an Mbox 2 Mini with ProTools, but am moving my workflow to Logic Pro, and maybe cross-grade to DP.

Your thoughts are much appreciated.

I'm still incredibly happy with My Traveler V1, which I have had for about 5 years. I use it with DP, FCP and other applications, and I also have a Mbox2 for PT. I have used the Traveler with my surround system, and have produced audio for both music and film work. I have hooked up the Mbox to the Traveler via spdif, so all my monitoring is centralised.

There were some issues in the early days with the dreaded high-pitched whine, but this seemed to disappear after bringing all my versions up to date, so I think it might have been due to OSX.

Cheers

Stephen
