MIDI file import woes ie: must be a better way! RESOLVED
I have been using DP since 3.0 and SVP before that. My way of importing MIDI files is to save the MIDI file, then open it up in a new DP file, save it as a DP file then open my file that I want it in, and use the LOAD function. This seems horribly tedious. I have looked through this forum and online and in the DP bible, and I can not find a better solution.
Here is my scenario:
I sketch in reason sometimes because its a bit faster for me to get down ideas. Then I export the MIDI file(s) in standard MIDI format, then open up that file in DP and save as a DP document, then I either open up a file that I want those MIDI tracks in or open a new file for a clean palette, then I LOAD the MIDI files.
Hopefully the brain trust here has a better solution, I just got fed up with it today, importing several MIDI tracks I sketched in Reason over to a remix project.
Thanks in advance
miko

Drag the SMF into the left hand side of the Tracks window (Adds tracks to existing sequence).
Or...
Drag the SMF into the Chunks window (creates new sequence).

ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?!? All this time, and I didn't even think to drag the MIDI file anywhere, that was my dumb moment, I feel stupid now.
Thank you so much

Don't feel bad. We've all done it... no matter how many years you work with DP, it's so feature rich that it's so easy to miss something.

Now its my turn to make a "stupid" question!
How the hell do I export a MIDI track so I can import it to other DAWs?? Can't find it.
Ahhhh... and merging it from bar 1 so it will be aligned automatically with other tracks.
cheers

Page 20. You're not just exporting one track though, the SMF will contain all tracks. As far as gong from bar 1 maybe just add a note right on One you can remove later, if there's not one there already. But that may not even be necessary - not sure about that.Tesionman wrote:Now its my turn to make a "stupid" question!![]()
