IMAC not seeing 828MKII or 896HD

Post by lodstudios »

So, I have literally searched this forum for roughly 6 hours today...(I checked my history)
I use an 828MKII, today I tried to pair it with an 896HD to no avail. In the process I messed something up, neither unit will fully power on unless I unplug the firewire from the back of the units. (Neither unit works now when both of them worked separately earlier) I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the most recent firewire audio drivers, trashing pref., repairing permissions and so on. I have also tried 3 different firewire cables, I am assuming the issue is with my computer and the drivers. Below are the two things I have tried. Does anyone else have any ideas or suggestions?
FIRST DISCONNECT YOUR 828 COMPLETELY AND UN-PLUG FROM THE MAINS.

Make sure you run the un-installer for each install you've attempted, they appear to only clear out their own associated files.
After each un-install "repair permissions" using "disk utility", "SHUT DOWN" and reboot.

Before reconnecting your 828, power it up, and using the last page on the SETUP menu reset to factory, then while holding in the SELECT knob, switch off and back on the power switch, this is a hidden reset for the 828mkII. I have found that doing this "hard" reset solves most issues with the 828mkII.
It may take a few goes to successfully get a connection, if unsuccessful disconnect, un-install, repair permissions, reboot and try again
Yes-- try resetting your 828 to factory default.

You may want to try this as well:

1. Delete DP Preferences (user library> preferences> digital performer> *preferences*)

2. Delete the MOTU Audio System Prefs
(user library> preferences> digital performer> *MOTU Audio System prefs*)

3. Uninstall and reinstall the audio driver, even if it is the same version.

4. Empty trash and repair permissions.

Restart the computer and try it out. If it still happens:

Delete any 'com.MOTU...plist' files
(user library> preferences...)

Restart and try it again.

I have a session tomorrow at 1:30PST, I couldn't make it work today so we had to move the session until tomorrow. Needless to say, I need to resolve this ASAP.

Thanks in advance!
Keith

EDIT- I looked in the system profiler a bit closer and my firewire drive is showing up as a USB device! The icon on the desktop is doing the same thing as well. Anyone have this before?
