loop tool not doing as was described
I was using trying to use the loop tool in the sequence edit window on a sound bite as instructed in the manual. However, the loop tool doesn't work at all. Am I doing something wrong. I haven't use that looping feature since earlier versions of DP. but now in DP 6.02 I cannot set a loop in a sound bite unless I use the SET LOOP Command in the Regions Menu.
Thanks in advance for the help
Using DP 6.02, Mac osx 10.5.8

Re: loop tool not doing as was described
There is another thread about this somewhere, in which I earlier left a message. It seems that the loop tool isn't working properly. Not fully broken, but mysterious and sort of non-functional in the long run. You're not the only one. I think we need to take this to MOTU.

Hey Cris.
I'm the other one with this problem that Shooshie's talking about -unless there's another?.
He's right about the looping feature; it's not fully broken but convoluted and confusing. I've been trying to set it up a la waveform tab, and haven't had success with it either. I've tried creating a loop with the Loop tool, and with selecting with the I-beam cursor in the waveform editor. To me this seemed easiest because you get a surgical view on the task at hand without all the other clutter of other panels, windows, etc. You can play with it here: stretch it, shorten it, set the number of repeats, and then name it and save it. But it doesn't remember all your hard work! If you look at the soundfile information tab (ctrl +option+command+A), there is a box towards the bottom that says Transfer in Soundbites -which is my main boggle because it doesn't. Heck there is even a Loop Type box that allows you to play the loop fwd, backwd, etc, But...! according to page 317 in the manual, "These settings have no effect in Digital Performer" ??? Then why whet our appetites with it? Are they just notes/rem statements?? This is something i could really use!! I agree with Shooshie that this needs to be brought up with DP7 development so they could fix it. It would be so much easier for those of us who really plan to do a lot of looping.
I'm no developer, but it seems like an easy fix one's it's brought to their attention.
Loopers are people too.

Yes, lopping in the Waveform Editor is a waste of time right now. I don't even like how they do Region looping. It's not well implemented. I'm sure they can and should improve on all areas of lopping in DP. I hope they do.
I just use Repeat... with paste, merge or splice. Now that feature works great!

Yeah, it's a great workaround. But… I'm just sayin'… the main attraction is refusing to go on stage.Dan Worley wrote:Yes, lopping in the Waveform Editor is a waste of time right now.
