MIDI Scrub

Post by antongiulio »

Dears all,
maybe a stupid question,
i have my MIDI sequence including some virtual instruments.
If i manually move the wiper back and forth i get audio scrubbing.
If i turn off audition i get no audio scrub but no audition on graphic editor.
Is possible to disable scrubbing by wiper moving ?
Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, no.

I think people have been asking for that for almost 20 years. I guess there must be some technical reason MOTU hasn't provided it yet. There should be two different audible (audition) modes: One without wiper scrubbing and one with. I know the cacophony of notes scares the heck out of me a lot of the time.

.

Just assign a shortcut to turn audition on/off. Then toggle as needed with it instead of mousing around.

I don't understand. You don't want to hear but you want to listen? :?
What is KC?

Do you mean you want to listen to individual MIDI notes as you jump from note to note and not have to play the sequence?

Or do you mean you want to listen when you click on the notes but NOT when you scrub by moving the wiper? If so, like it's been said, you can't. You either turn audition on or off. But a quick shortcut will make this more tolerable. It would take you a fraction of a second to toggle the thing with a left-hand shortcut.

Yes, can you elaborate about "quick shortcut" ?
Thanks

.

Go to the Commands window. That's where you can learn, assign and personalize shortcuts for almost any DP function you may need. Look for the default shortcut (if any) for the audible button (you need to know it's technical MOTU name to find it... I don't know it), and learn it. Or change it to whatever you need. You could assign it to be, for instance, letter "n". So next time you want to toggle the audible mode on/off, you just press n. That, in the long term, will save you a LOT of time because you won't be mousing around.

This Commands window is a gold mine.
