First I must say I've never had problems with the sound quality of my 828mk3 or the drivers, I've run every Windows 64bit OS, now Win 7. That said I've mainly used it Direct Connect, all my instruments, mixers, and sound processors straight into the inputs. Using the Cuemix for control. Now I have chosen to load up my software and can't figure out to output the applications. I would have thought I could set up the outputs on the Apps and have the Cuemix act as vertual in(s) with the ability to monitor through my Monitor speakers tied to the Main out 1&2. Nope! IF I tie to an out it shows up as an out and I can't get it routed to the mains for monitoring and cant use Cuemix for control. If I route it out to the Mains it shows up but I have no control over the volume except through the rotory monitor knob, no effects or sliders. How do I output the app to a cuemix in so I can control the mix and monitor it through the mains?
Thanks
Cuemix routing

Re: Cuemix routing
I use Cubase SX3 for multitracking and while you can use Cuemix while in Cubase, you can't make adjustments while the audio is running, it will freeze Cubase. However, I mainly use the Cuemix before setting up recording for headphone mixes, or my Control room mix. I use all the output controls of Cubase for whatever I'm sending out to. I use a couple of output pairs to send to a effect unit and a compressor, then send back to some inputs. So I'm not sure what you're trying to do exactly but the easy way to think of Cuemix is that it's for controlling all input volumes and setting up different mixes of those input volumes.
For output volumes of an application, I would just use the applications volume control.
Peace,
Billy

Re: Cuemix routing
I think I know what you want to do CSprague because i'd like tio be able to do it sometimes as well.
Use outputs from the PC as inputs on the MOTU. So you could mix live and recorded samples. I don't think it's possible. All PC outputs go to MOTU outputs. You can mix but only in the most crude fashion.
Why not try looping your signal back? Maybe using the S/PDIF pair? It's likely that no one else but you will ever know!
If you give it a go let us know how you get on.

Re: Cuemix routing
Finaly wrapped my head around the fact that Cuemix acts like an extention to the application (out to out) (in to in) and not an interface (out to in). Controlling the volume using the apps has me cranking it down to -37 to -40db, setting the mains in monitor and using the monitor dial in cuemix. Anoying but not impossible. Wish I could program, then I would make the firewire audio as act as an interface and be able to mix and direct the output of the apps to what ever cuemix buss I needed. Just rusty, the last time I tried this type of config I was running an EMU, but dumpped them for the MOTU, it just took me a while to get around to playing again.
Thanks for the responses.

Re: Cuemix routing
This is exactly what I do. I always use s/pdif-out as my main software output. The drawback is that I have to use one of the 8 mixes in Cuemix to route s/pdif-in to Main Out for my monitors. But the upside is that it makes the software mix available on the other 7 mixes on the s/pdif in channel.RonaldDumsfeld wrote:Why not try looping your signal back? Maybe using the S/PDIF pair? I use the same trick with an ADAT bank to sub-group drums and vocals so I can monitor with eq and compression while recording the dry signals.
