Noise on output of 8pre, win7 64bit TI ExpressCard FireWire

Post by mlundy99 »

I have a motu 8pre connected to my desktop computer (win xp 32bit) and it works like a charm - can use it as my default sound card and all windows sounds come out of it. Also works perfect with SONAR8.5.

I am trying to get it to work on my Laptop (windows 7 64bit) using a Firewire ExpressCard (ADS Tech, with a TI chipset). After installation when I set it as default in win7 i get a loud rumble on the main outs and phone outs. Interestingly enough when I use it in SONAR8.5 on the laptop it records fine. But does not play back - only a loud rumble on the outs.

I have tried several firewire expresscards - same thing - including the siig card.

I have also disabled soundcard, LAN/Wan and set up for clean boot in MSconfig (disabled ALL Non-Microsoft drivers).

Help!!!!

Hi

I've run into this same problem though, having recently moved over from Win XP 32Bit to Win7 64Bit. I've installed the 64bit drivers for the 8Pre. Also tried updating the firmware to 1.03 64bit, but no results. The noise happens when the interface is "active" sort of, if i enter the CueMix console or enable it in any DAY i might be using. This is frustrating!

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Hi and hello

I have the same problem on my 8pre working on Windows 7 32-bit. Everytime I enter a programm (cubase or just the motu audio console) which connects to the 8pre the noise starts. If I close the programm it stops. Did you find a solution yet?

Thx in advance.

Marc

Hey again

Sorry for double-post.

I found the solution with the search-function. I'm sorry I was a little fast with my previous post. Anyway, here's the solution:

Hello All:

Okay, i have Windows7 Ultimate 64-bit system. When first installed the new drivers for my 8pre it had this loud ass horrible bass sound almost blew my monitors (not really, but it scared the hell outta me). I would get this noise everytime i tried to use a program that required the use of the MOTU device. It would stop as soon as i closed the program. And when i tried to open other programs or install new software i would get this cracking and popping noise.

I tried re-installing driver, flashed new firmware to 8pre, and tried the older drivers. Not working!!!

SOLUTION:
SO...after finding this forum I did what other people suggested which was to change the IEE 1394 driver to the legacy driver and everything worked fine!!!

I would suggest do that before you do anything else!!!
