DP 7.1 - the best version yet

Well, I've spent the last four days really running DP 7.1
through its paces, on my G5 and my Intel Macbook, as well
as three MacBook Pros that I am loading up for an upcoming
tour. Its performance has been stellar, and I do mean stellar,
on all the computers, including my G5 running Tiger.

Haven't had a single crash. VI's load quickly and play fine.
I'm loving ProVerb, I think it sounds great (well, let's put
it this way, DP finally has a decent reverb).
I'm also very impressed with the guitar pedals - I'm not using
them for guitars, but for effects for keyboard and synth sounds.
The custom plug-in sets are something I wish every other DAW
had (but they don't). I can't even begin to list all the refinements
to existing features (such as the additional options in the
"Change Duration" window) that, even though incremental, are
so helpful to workflow. I can kill Consolidated Windows (which I
don't like to use) with ease,the new options for launching and
viewing V-racks are great, exporting soundbites is wicked
fast....I could go on and on.

I've been a DP user since it was just Performer - 20 years (yes,
it is actually that old). This is the best version of it yet.
I've been involved in some Cubase and Logic projects lately too,
and frankly I now find them both annoying and way less elegant
than DP.

I'm recommending DP 7.1 to everyone I know.

I'm just feeling that my main production limitation with 7.1 is between the ears!

I have the same positive experience with 7.1
Have been using DP 7.1 every day after MOTU updated the audio driver for the PCI424 for about three weeks ago.
I have been editing, mixing, recording etc. Mostly + 40 track recording projects. DP 7.1 is stable and reliable. Loving it!

Had some crashes. But I'm 99.9% sure it was related to V.E. Pro.
Otherwise I've been using it for about a month and I'm very happy also.

Edge edit crash - Turn off audible mode, simple fix
Play from 1 crash - disable unused rewire tracks, simple fix

My major thing right now is line 6 pod farm just not being usable due to the mouse controls, motu says they are working on a fix. I do still like the sounds and effects better than the motu offering. Other than that, the version TOTALLY rekindled my fire for this program, which between life stuff and overall lack of excitement for it, was waning. 7.1 w/ ampgui mellow looks like a program I've never even used before, yet still feels familiar.

Can't wait for that line 6 fix though, will be unstoppable.

DP 7.1 is working great for me. I have yet to have a crash.

Lately I have been testing the boundaries and doing as much editing, adding and removing effects and general mischief as time permits and I still can't make DP 7.1 crash.

I keep discovering new time-saving productivity features almost daily.

Just yesterday, I noticed a new 7.1 feature (not in 7.02 as I recall), that allows you to track-enable.disable and/or play-enable/disable all tracks in a single track folder, in one click.

I estimate this feature saved me three hours tonight alone.

This is a much more efficient way to quickly go back and forth between stem submixes, or to quickly return to a stem after tweaking a reverb setting that you're using on several or all stems (it often takes applying it to several and evaluating before finding the best setting, and this new feature speeds up this process considerably, by a factor of ten or more).

Dave, I know you had held out on updating DP for at least a release or two, so it's good you're on 7.1 now and finding it stable and relatively easy to adjust to.

OK! Sounds great. I will upgrade from 7.02! One question - do the new audio drivers play nice with 7.02 if I need to go back?

Yes, it took a little period of bafflement before we discovered the 'simple fix' but things are great now. I still have a problem with Drumcore 3 exhibiting the same measure 1 crash behaviour for which I haven't found a fix (maybe it's a programming carryover from its Rewire origins??), but Drumcore 2.5 works perfectly well in Rewire mode with the same loops and sounds, so I've shrugged my shoulders and moved on.

This is indeed a great version and inspirational to use, and other than the little issues above I've had no crashes and a lot of fun. I don't think the guitar amp sims are quite as 'rich', for lack of a better word, as Amplitube, say, but they offer a nice useable variety of unique sounds especially with the pedals, and the preset chains are killer- a great concept and time saver.

I'm very happy and gonna be happier.

Hello -- Yes, wanting to go to 7.1, but, one particular question: Is anyone using 7.1 with Waves 5.9.7? I'm wondering if they will get along. Thanks.
