So far so good here. Not too much audio work yet, so far one long day of VI programming. Had one single crash, but that was clearly the fault of that p**ce-*f-sh*t software Play, other than that very stable.
Working very very well here. PPC 2.3 (6.5gig RAM), 10.4.11, DP7.1, the best version ever. I seem to be able to run more VI's with less 'clunkiness', and the transport is much more responsive than before. Had 1 crash (can't remember which VI i was using), due to me moving too fast on an already cpu taxed project, which I can live with. In love otherwise.
I agree with whomever said it before, that people in 7.02 land should give 7.1 a shot. I waited too long for something that has certainly improved my workflow, and happiness.

Had my first day of proper DP7.1 use today. It was mainly tracking and a little editing and some mixing-on-the-fly. It worked flawlessly and no crashes whatsoever.
Only thing I noticed is that it takes significantly longer for it to do the waveform display. And if it starts making them and you hit cmd-z they seem to stay (but inactive) in the Background processing. When I was finished for the day and was quitting DP it said "There's still unfinished processes" And it was about 20 unactive 'creating waveform display' things there. Weird.
Other than that, super good!

Yes, works like a charm, and so many nice small fixes and additions in there, on top of the advertised ones... like the dot next to the take when there's more than one present. Or the fact that used busses are bold in the list. And and and. Awesome.

Great version. Yet again, best DP yet.
I noticed that dot. Took me a while to realize what it was. I didn't think at first to look where there was no dot! Very nice little touch.
I'm enjoying the heck out of the new Tuner! That has transformed my methodology using the WX-5 and Wallander Instruments. Too complicated to go into detail here without fully hijacking the thread, but that's the best tuner I've ever used. (and I've bought several for the Mac) I'm calling it the MOTUnah.
Now, if they'd just put back the QuickFilter in the Sequence Editor. How'd THAT get lost?

Hey gang,
Another crash free day.
Today, multiple VIs and heavy Waves stuff.
No problems.
My only question is about the waveform redrawing slowdown.
After each audio recording, the background processing window shows up and the waveform is drawn.
Is there a way to turn this off?
It used to be transparent.
Same here! I can't change cursor from tool menu and slow like hell~
Background processing is stuck and I have to cancel by clicking X. I like new feature in 7.1 but things are bad here.
You sure it's stuck? It sometimes takes a while, and it doesn't always show a progress bar, if I remember correctly. I'm talking about when it rewrites the analysis files for an existing project you've just opened for the first time in 7.1.

Yikes, I haven't done recording on DP7.1 yet, only mixing...
does it take that long really to draw a waveform?
I have a friend who works on 7.1 also, and he advised me about 7.1 taking a bit longer to draw new recorded takes, but not that long... just a bit longer than 7.02...
when opening a session on 7.1 that was made on a previous version of DP, it does take a little while to draw all the waveforms, but after that it'll open instantly

The waveform redraw in DP7.1 cannot be much slower than 7.02 since I didn't notice any difference yesterday at all. I do always turn off analyze soundbites, set it to "only when needed." That may make a difference.

Trash your prefs. Create a new project. Go through all the prefs in DP and set everything to your liking, i.e. turn off background processing, analyze soundbites etc. and set those to "only when needed".
Then make a copy of the entire DP preferences folder and use this copy to get fresh prefs from should DP start acting squirrely. That way you don't have to re-set your prefs every time.
As for stuck tools, you may have accidentally double-tapped a key to stick a tool? Try double-tapping the "A" key to get the arrow back.

I've noticed that it takes a little longer. I merged 5 tracks at the same time yesterday and it took about 10 seconds to redraw. Those same 5 tracks would have taken 2 or 3 seconds in version 6. Not a big deal, but definitely longer. I can see how it might be a problem if you have a huge project, but remember that it only does it once.
