Computer help in magazine
I was reading an article in a non-computer magazine about computers; the article was “what computer techs wont tell you”. Some people like the Geek Squad wrote it, they had a list of things to do to keep your PC working with out calling them and paying for help. The last and final statement was to get a Mac, they said Mac’s were bad for their business as they did not have all the problems of PC’s and Mac’s are what they used.

Re: Computer help in magazine
I'm not surprised. Another advantage of the Mac, that I have become familiar with recently, is how there are less viruses/trojans designed to target them, whereas my Windows laptop has become infected with something called W32/Autorun-AZA which is harmless and contained due to Avast Pro, but until they release a patch for it, I have to live with the little warning popping up periodically as Avast blocks the virus from a particular action. It's a real pain. Macs are of course oblivious and I got this infection by someone using a thumbdrive formatted for Windows on their Mac. Naturally they were clueless there was any virus since it doesn't affect OSX.
This of course brings me to another thought, but I think I could actually support mandatory prison terms for people who create and then release computer viruses.

Those scumbags are the cybernetic equivalent of those idiots who throw stuff down at cars from a bridge

Some times they throw eggs. Others, they throw bricks

I just spent the morning dealing with credit card fraud. packages started showing up with fake addresses at my PO box. Due to the fact we get our mail in a small town it went to me. I am so sick of bad people.

Re: Computer help in magazine
I remember getting a Worm virus about 10 years ago on our Power Macs at work. It made the Mac pause every few minutes. Since that, nothing. Thank god. But for how long ?

I do not think worms or any thing has been a problem after OSX, 9 did get a few as I understand.
