Pretty sure AudioDesk is basically the audio DAW portion of DP, so posted here.
DAW: AD 1.02, 2408 Mk1, 324-PCI, all latest drivers, Mac OS9 G3 500.
App. and audio data on separate drives. I know it's an old rig but it should be ok for:
transferring cassette audio to AudioDesk, then CD.
Spot checking tracks in AD no clicks. Final on CD, clicks.
(this has happened on multitrack projects too)
Edit: upon listening to CD, I compare times to tracks on AD. I then find
the clicks at those times in AD. This is on edited soundbites.
Performance meters: CPU: 20% max. Play/Record Buffers: 40% max.
(IIRC, play buffer "pulses" up to, but not more than, 40%)
Audio Monitor/track fader levels ok. Audio cabling ok.
I have:
- assigned lots of RAM to AD. (memory meter shows WAY low useage)
- adjusted studio size buffers/disk, (in suggested ratio)
- adjusted buffer in PCI-324 window
- tried long passes (~30 min.) or each tune to it's own tracks
- different media (CD/CDRW USB flash drive) for final
- different positions of "firewire" into PCI-324
Trying a different PCI slot is next, but IIRC, I tried that a while back.
Do edits made to track soundbites cause clicking?
The archives suggest that edits could cause timing issues (related to file names?),
and that merging and/or edge editing may help (have to read up on these)
Any pointers on these or other click-causing-ca-ca or pointers would be
greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Neil.
