Anybody have an opinion on it? I'll be recording a 6 persons acappella vocal ensemble in a church. They'll be singing to a pre-recorded track in headphones. I want to keep it multi-track so I can import everything in my home studio. How are the preamps? I'm using some decent condenser studio mics.
Would I be better carrying my mobile setup? (MacbookPro, MOTU896HD BLA modded, microclock yada...)
Thanks for your time.

Re: roland vs-2480
I came here from the 2480. I loved that machine and miss it dearly to this day. The reverbs in that thing were amazing. The editing and speed of use during editing was not. However it was the flagship DAW in its day IMHO. It was a rock solid machine that never let down. Simple things like cutting, pasting and automation were a little difficult as opposed to using DP though. Exporting WAV files to disc was slow also, but again that machine was 10 years old. Also, there was a prob with early model regarding the mic pres wherein there was some distortion but that was a free fix from Roland during the time mine was in operation.
If your machine has the pre-amp fix, it will do an awesome rock solid job for the acapella thing. And as long as you have a few minutes (or hours) depending on how many trx you wanna export into DP or whatever, this thing is gonna do you fine.
It is key though, to know that you're machine has the pre-amp fix if you are really concerned with said pre-amps. I made three records without the fix, and to be honest I didn't notice the diff, but some guys have way more gooder ears than me.
Having said that, my records are still generating lots-0-SOCAN cheques to this day
