I've just gotten news I have to go out on a tour soon as a keyboard tech.
They are purchasing new Macbook Pros, with SL on them.
My question is this - we'll be using stuff I've created in DP 5.13. I am
not sure whether I should install 7.1 or 7.02 on these laptops.
7.1,or 7.02 on new Macbook Pro?

Tough call. Which ever one you choose, be careful what plugins you use. Over the holidays, I didn't use DP. When I last left it, it was working flawlessly. A month later, I pick up where I left off in DP 7.02, and it crashed every minute. I couldn't go more than about a minute or less before it would crash. Only today have I finally gotten that (apparently) fixed. I am attributing it to changes I made in the system over the holidays, and possibly an update to Altiverb that had both the MAS and AU versions active. Now I'm only using MAS. Also, there may have been an OS update during that time. I don't know what triggered it, and I don't know specifically how I fixed it, but it's running now. Assuming it goes back to its pre-holiday stability, it would be the most stable system I've used so far, but I haven't tried 7.1 yet.David Polich wrote:I've just gotten news I have to go out on a tour soon as a keyboard tech.

So, now I've got to decide whether to install 7.1. I'll probably install it and play with it until I'm sure it's going to work, using 7.02 for projects until I feel safe with the new one.
You're just going to need to take one of those home and push it pretty hard to see what happens. You think you'll have time to do that? There's nothing wrong with using 7.0 or 7.02. They're both very stable. But some say that 7.1 is even moreso; who knows?

Re: 7.1,or 7.02 on new Macbook Pro?
Thanks Shooshie. I just ordered DP 7 upgrade from MOTU. I'm
thinking it will be 7.02 that the installer disc in the box
contains. I've also downloaded the 7.1 update. This should
give me a chance to evaluate both versions on my aluminum Intel
Macbook (same as a current Macbook Pro, except it has no
FireWire and it has the "cheaper" video card).
