First time ADAT Optical Woes

Post by lodstudios »

I run an 828MK2 and recently was got my hands on the original 896, I would like to stick with the 828 but use the pre's on the 896 when needed. I have the 828 clocked to my Lucid and the 896 is clocked there as well but it doesn't show it syncing unless I plug in the firewire from the 896 but then the ADAT goes away. When I plug in the optical cable, from the out of the 896 to the in of the 828, I get a very harsh hissing sound. This is the first time I have done this and I thought I knew what I was doing but somehow I must be missing something...no?

Any thoughts, ideas?
